My advisor and I visit James Tung’s lab at the University of Waterloo. We try out a non-invasive BCI headset, have an engaging discussion with James and his students about ethical challenges related to BCI access, and finish with a tour of the robotics facilities. I leave with a newfound appreciation for the work that goes into developing these technologies.

This weekend, I attend and present at my first philosophy conference, which takes place at the University of Manitoba. It is the midst of winter. The campus grounds are covered in mountains of snow and surrounded by a -30°C chill that hurts to inhale. But inside the conference hall, the people are so warm and welcoming, and the ideas shared so energizing, that I forget all about the cold.
